Experience over “stuff”
Choosing the best resort vacation for families is a fairly easy task these days. If you’re traveling with children, it’s vital to the enjoyment of your trip that you choose a destination that makes things easier for you as parents, not more difficult. From kid friendly food to engaging activities, many resorts plan ahead to make sure you’re making magical memories on your family vacation with the little ones as well as having a little kid free time to yourselves.
- Kids buffets and menus
Resorts know kids and realize that Tuna Tartare, while a delicacy for parents, may not be an acceptable dish for those under eighteen. Many are now offering buffets with bountiful fare to please the ever-hungry kiddos with simple cuisine such as cheeseburgers, spaghetti and chicken fingers, that is more their style. - Kids’ Clubs
These programs are generally resort style summer camps allowing kids to make friends and engage in activities that are designed to entertain and delight them. They may learn about local wildlife, or play Wii bowling with newfound playmates. In the meantime, parents can relax a bit while enjoying a round of golf or a day at the spa. - Activities for the whole family
Go snorkeling with the whole family on a coral reef at an all-inclusive resort where use of the gear along with non-motorized water sports equipment such as kayaks and paddleboards are included in your upfront price. Take the kids fishing off the resort dock or take a tour of a local town. Making memories is easy when there are so many activities to choose from. - Pools and more splashy fun
Water is a must to keep the kids entertained and pools are a mainstay at any resort while many also feature splash parks, water slides or lazy rivers. Towels and poolside food and drink are usually provided at the pool so you don’t have to lug around a heavy beach bag. Just bring the sunscreen and you’re all set! - Accommodations
Family sized suites are available to accommodate the whole group and if the extended family is along for the ride, adjoining suites or vacation rentals are a great option. A vacation rental home affords you the luxuries of resort living in the comfort and space of your very own private home away from home. Fully equipped kitchens complete with pots, pans, cooking utensils and tableware make it easy to prepare a home cooked meal. Some resorts will do your grocery shopping for you and even put perishables away in the fridge and freezer while you’re at the beach building sandcastles with the kids.
