Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas

THE TESORO RESORT

We arrived a day early before our DreamTrip to the Hard Rock Hotel to take maximize our airline flight. We flew in from North Carolina…not exactly just a hop over to Cabo…more like a hop, skip, and a jump! My wonderful wife searched hard to come up with the perfect place to stay for just one night. We wanted to get the feel of Los Cabos and she “hit the bullseye”! We stayed in Cabo San Lucas at the Tesoro Resort overlooking the Marina Cabo San Lucas. We loved Tesoro so much that we immediately talked about returning before we had even left there!

We got an amazing deal through our booking engine and did NOT take the all-inclusive option because we wanted to eat at restaurants in town. I must admit, the area we stayed in felt very much like an American coastal city. There were plenty of differences to make you understand you were not in the US, but American cultural has crept in (can you say Wal-Mart and Home Depot?). We loved the city, felt very safe and comfortable, and the people…just amazingly welcoming and friendly! We fell in love with their city!

We walked part of the city and the entire marina. We felt safe the entire time. One day doesn’t even come close to doing this fine city justice. So much to see and do. The only annoying problem was vendors along the walkway of the marina were relentless. We were constantly asked if we wanted to book excursions, wanted a hat, cigars, and if we needed a water taxi…which by the end of the walk, WE DID! They were never pushy or rude, just was annoying to have to continue to say no thanks.

We used Grayline for our transportation from the airport to the resort. We like to use Grayline because of the relationship with WorldVentures, but most importantly, we trust their transportation and tours. We have been pleased no matter where we have used them. The driver was VERY informative, nice, funny, and friendly. He even stopped in the middle of the street to show us his favorite place to eat after we asked for his recommendations.  After settling in, that is exactly where we went to eat lunch…we were NOT!!!!…disappointed!!! Food was excellent and we ate like royalty for $29 US dollars!

The Tesoro Resort is grand. The lobby is beautiful and colorful. The bellmen and front desk staff all very friendly and helpful. Diane selected an upgraded room (deluxe marina view) with breakfast included and we were amazed how inexpensive the room was, THANK YOU World Ventures! The Tesoro EASILY exceeded expectations in all areas. The room wasn’t spacious, but more than adequate. The marina view from our private balcony was simply breath taking. I found myself sitting on the balcony just gazing out over the water watching the boats go in and out of the marina. At one point I counted over 30 boats that I could see. My guess is the marina holds 300+ boats and almost all the spaces were occupied.

There are numerous restaurants around the resort and two within the resort. We had a late dinner and breakfast at the resort and both meals were excellent and reasonably priced. There are so many food options in the city. There is plenty to do in the marina area. Plenty of shopping and entertainment. One thing we noticed…if you need a bank…well you are in great shape! Seemed to be a bank or ATM on every corner! Plus, if you are a golfer, you have at least 8 courses to choose from!

Our stay was too short in Cabo San Lucas and we are looking forward to returning. We will stay by the marina again and our choice of resort will be The Tesoro!
